Out of Tune

Ashley Bennett is a straight-A student in her junior year of high school, and life is looking good: she's got a boyfriend whom she loves, a group of friends who love to party... But really, Ashley loves to curl up at home with a good book, misses her old friends, and she can't wait to go to college.

When junior year starts, the life Ashley's settled into is turned upside down - the empty house next door has finally been sold, and moving in is Todd O'Connor.

When Ashley first meets Todd, he seems aloof and cocky - and absolutely the last guy on earth she wants to carpool with to school. As the two get to know each other, though, Ashley comes to realise that there's more to him than the mysterious, brooding guy the girls at school are swooning over.

As her friendship with Todd grows, Ashley begins to question if her relationship with boyfriend Josh is making her happy - and if it was really worth giving up her old friends for. Will Ashley find the courage to forge her own path?

Striking a chord

The prequel novella to OUT OF TUNE, exclusively on Wattpad!

Ashley Bennett is a nobody at high school, and it totally sucks.

So when Josh, the cute guy she sits next to in English, asks her on a date, she can hardly believe it - and she's totally over the moon!

She and her best friend, Allie, have been waiting for an opportunity to move up the social foodchain, and this may just be their chance - but as Ashley and Josh grow closer, she starts to think her best friend isn't as happy about it as she should be. Can their friendship withstand it?

a note from the author

Out of Tune is my third published novel - but the first that made it to bookshelves without being posted on story-sharing platform Wattpad first, which was a weirdly terrifying experience for me at the time. A special shout-out to my mum here, too, for coming up with this book's title!

While there's a romance storyline, this one also focuses a lot on one of my other favourite themes to write about: friendships. The old, the new, and the unexpected.
